The Harmony of Beer & Cheese Murray's Cheese April 5 at 6:30 p.m. If you think wine is the only appropriate pairing for cheese, then let Dan Suarez, the brewer at Six Points, and Murray's alum Taylor Cocalist enlighten you. For $65, the two will lead you through a tasting of suds and solids, including light, spicy wheat beer paired with tangy, citric goat cheese and toffee-noted ale with a salty, aged sheep cheese. By the end of it, you might never want to hit the (wine) bottle again.
Edible Estates:Attack on the Front Lawn The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space April 8 at 7 p.m. You go to the Greenmarket, you shop at the food co-op. Ever wanted to take your locavorism a step further? A panel of artists, gardeners, and community organizers, as well as Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, will get together for a conversation about growing food in the unlikeliest of places: New York City. j-CATION: Taste Japan April 10, 1 p.m. - 1 a.m. Japan Society Take a vacation to Japan without leaving the city. The cleverly named j-CATION event will transform the Japan Society into a mini Japanese island with several main courses served throughout the day, and workshops like Wagashi & Green Tea 101 taking place in the classrooms. Screenings of the delicious film Flavor of Happiness and the hilarious game show Clash of the Foodies! will keep you busy between bites.
