Sake Tasting EN Japanese Brasserie Wednesday, March 2, 6 p.m. The Sake Export Association is hosting an evening of rice wine in the West Village for $50 ($40 in advance). Sample more than 40 different types of sake (or as many as you can muster), including a number of rare-in-America brands like the seasonal nama, or unpasteurized sake. Brewers will be on hand to answer questions, while complementary bites by chef Abe Hiroki are passed around.
Piedmontese Wine Pairing I Trulli Ristorante Thursday, March 3, 7:30 p.m. Join chef Patti Jackson and winemaker Mario Andrion for a pairing of dishes from kitchen and wines from his Castello di Verduno winery. The five-course menu includes Terrina di Coniglio (rabbit terrine with fennel and celery root salad), Agnolotti di Fegato (duck liver-filled pasta with shaved baby cabbage and hazelnuts), and Guance di Vitello (braised veal cheek with risotto and wild mushrooms), all for $125 per person.
Natural Winemakers' Week Taste of the Mediterranean Wine Dinner Tangled Vine Wine Bar & Kitchen Sunday, March 6, 7:30 p.m. Flos de Pinoso and Domaine de la Patience will be the guests of honor at this special dinner. The two organic wine producers, from Spain and France, respectively, will offer a selection of their whites and reds, paired with dishes by David Seigal, such as pissaladière, a pizza-like pie from the South of France, a selection of tapas, and a large paella for $49.
