As many of you know, our weekly dining and drinking newsletter features all the coolest epicurean events in the city. Sign up for it here!

Bordeaux Tasting Le Skyroom at French Institute Alliance Française March 29 As part of a series of six tastings, each associated with a different region, the evening will focus on cépages, or the grape varieties from which Bordeaux wines are made -- in this case, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Led by Michael Madrigale, the head sommelier at Daniel Boulud's Bar Boulud, the tasting will also feature several of France's famed cheeses and charcuterie. As one of the most recognized French wine regions in the world, Bordeaux produces more fine wines than anywhere else, with more than 7,000 chateaus in operation. Here's your chance to take a tour of them without leaving the city.

Annual Passover Sephardic Seder Capsouto Freres March 29-30 Tribeca mainstay Capsouto Freres has hosted an annual Sephardic (non-kosher) Seder for Passover for the past 23 years. This year, on the first two nights of Passover, a cantor will perform a reading of the Haggadah, while a communal meal of dairy and fish is served, including various frittatas; poached salmon with veggies and matzoh mina; and macaroons with fresh fruit sorbet for dessert. The meal will be paired with Israeli wines, and proceeds from the $150 ticket will benefit The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee.

Home Ec 2010: Cooking, Sewing, and Gardening for Apartment Dwellers Housing Works Used Book Cafe March 31 Join Cathy Erway, author of The Art of Eating In: How I Learned to Stop Spending and Love the Stove, and Erin Bried, author of How to Sew a Button: And Other Nifty Things Your Grandmother Knew, for an evening of homemaking tips, such as how to grow your own basil for a truly homemade pesto (you don't even need a food processor for this one). Participants even get to bring home their very own little basil plant.
