This class will cover various brewing methods, where students will make the same coffee using various techniques and discuss the results. Afterwards, attendees can take advantage of happy hour specials starting at 4 p.m., including a buy-one-get-one-half-off deal on all beer, wine, and hard cider on tap until 6 p.m. Tickets are $40.
Learn How to Cook Turkish Cuisine, Turkish Cultural Center, 245 Avenue U, Brooklyn, Saturday, 6 p.m.
2014 might be the year of Middle Eastern food, so what better way to understand a trend than to learn how to make dishes like shakshuka? For $5, students will receive an intro to Turkish cuisine complete with tastings. Reservations can be made through the Turkish Cultural Center's event ticketing website.
Park Slope Down to Earth Farmers Market, Park Slope Farmers Market, 4th Street at 5th Avenue, Brooklyn, Sunday, 10 a.m.
If being inside after a snowstorm makes you realize how poorly stocked your kitchen is, perhaps it's time to strap on your boots and get some fresh food. A selection of organic and local products are available to start 2014 off on a healthy note at this year round market. Brooklyn vendors like bakery Runner and Stone will be around until April, while upstate farms like Feather Ridge Farm will be dishing out eggs year round.
