The final brunch weekend of 2013 is upon us, and if you need a little practice for New Year's, may we suggest a round of mimosas? Where to brunch:

Fans of southern-style brunches can build a biscuit at this Chelsea joint, which also offers a "biscuit bomb" brunch sandwich filled with house made sausage and cheddar. Top your buttermilk baked good with habanero jelly or bacon-herb gravy, or opt for a heartier entree like the BBQ pulled pork spoonbread or a pimento cheeseburger.

If you're jonesing for a caloric blow-out before the end of 2013, opt for the $25 three-course bacon brunch at this Long Island City general store and cafe. Bacon samplers, bacon sandwiches, and bacon brownies define the rustic setting, which also includes pizzas from a wood burning oven and a daily blue plate special.
