Where to Celebrate National Pie Day
Salty honey pie from Four & Twenty Blackbirds
Yes, we understand that the national holidays are mostly just a marketing ploy, but after we're inundated with thousands of emails about things like pie, it's all we can do to keep ourselves from stalking the streets with a crazy look in our eyes, placated only when we sit down with a slice. We think you should share in our mania. Besides, pie is delicious, regardless of what day it is. Here are five spots to celebrate in NYC -- plus a couple of bonus ways to get in on the action.
Four & Twenty Blackbirds, 439 Third Avenue, Brooklyn, 718-499-2917 Our favorite pie shop in the city, this Gowanus pie shop works a seasonal menu, which dabbles in flavors like salted caramel apple, birch beer float, and chili chocolate. Stop by for a slice, or order your own whole pie by phoning the shop.
The Baking Bean
The Baking Bean, bakingbean.com Speaking of ordering, we've been blown away by the treats coming out of the kitchen at the Baking Bean, a dessert delivery service helmed by Clarice Lam. Order a large pie or individual pie-lettes in flavors like banana and butterscotch or maple pear and cranberry.
Momofuku Milk Bar
Momofuku Milk Bar, multiple locations If ever there were an occasion to wholeheartedly justify eating a decadent slice of crack pie, today is it. Use the excuse to sink your teeth into this goo-filled oat crust. We're pretty sure it's made of butter, sugar, and unicorn tears.Next Page
