Where to Crack a Crab This Summer

Warm up your mallet hand, it's crab season! And we've got three spots for you to have your very own crabpalooza. But first, if you don't know your way around a crab, watch this primer courtesy of Mermaid Inn.

Back Forty kicks off their annual Chesapeake Crab Boil season, hosting weekly Tuesday dinners through August. Get a pile of spiced blue crabs, potatoes, string beans, and seasonal fruit cobblers for dessert. ($45, reserve in advance). 190 Ave. B; 212-388-1990

Mermaid Inn is hosting summer crab busters every Tuesday, and also boiling Maryland blues. Get a bucket of crabs, corn, potatoes and corn bread, until the restaurant runs out. ($24/bucket) 96 Second Ave., 212-674-5870

Ditch Plains (UWS) is throwing New England-style crab boils every Thursday night in their back room. Come by for buckets of blue crab with jalapeno hush puppies, potato wedges, and corn on the cob. ($40; 6 or 8:30 p.m., reservations are recommended) 100 W. 82nd St.; 212-362-4815
