Where Was I Eating? BareBurger
Whoever first thought to fry pickles was on to something genius.
Looks like we've got some Southern-food fans here at Fork in the Road! Many great guesses for this week's Where Am I Eating?, with several people identifying the dish as fried pickles. Indeed, these are the deep-fried bread-and-butter pickles from the newest outpost of BareBurger, located at 85 Second Avenue (212-510-8610). The cornmeal coating on these offers a great crunch, unlike at places that beer-batter-fry their pickles, which always results in a soggy mess. In fact, these might just rank as some of our favorite fried pickles north of the Mason-Dixon Line.
Congratulations to Larry T, who correctly named the restaurant and the dish. Please email me with your mailing address to claim your cookbook. Thanks to all who played, and I look forward to seeing you back here next Monday afternoon for a brand-new game and a whole new cookbook to win. Until then, dear friends.
