With MikNic Lounge, Red Hook Gets A New Neighborhood Bar
The name says it all.
The Columbia Street waterfront is home to a new venue for beer and, eventually, live music. MikNic Lounge, as the name suggests, is the brainchild of Miki Mosman, the manager at Barramundi, and Nicki Humphrey, a veteran bartender at Milano's Bar. The two soft-opened the bar in December, then had a harder opening this past weekend. Says Mosman, the women got to know each other when she became a regular at Milano's. Over beers, they came up with the idea of opening up their own place.
MikNic doesn't have a tap system in place yet, so for now it's just serving bottles from producers like Brooklyn Brewery and Magic Hat. Mosman, a former cook, is also whipping up quesadillas to keep patrons fortified for the drinking. Instead of the usual chicken and cheese, stuffings will include smoked turkey, salami, and artichokes. Expect the tap system, as well as live music acts and DJs, to arrive come spring.
