Xiao Ye Will Be Replaced by a Taqueria; the Pigeon Café Will Move Next Door to Dora

Following the premature deaths of Blue Elm and Xiao Ye, 198 Orchard Street will next birth a taqueria, according to next month's Community Board 3 SLA agenda. The owners, Barraza Foods, have applied for a license transfer, though presumably they won't try to serve any Four Loko on the premises.

Also on the agenda: Dora, Nicole Slaven's beautifully appointed coffee shop on the corner of East Broadway and Clinton Street, will be getting a new neighbor called the Pigeon Café. No word on what sort of food the place will serve, but news of its imminent arrival -- along with that of Café Grumpy on Essex Street -- suggest that two years after Broadway East first tried to serve flexitarian food to East Broadway, other entrepreneurs have decided to try to take advantage of a part of the neighborhood that many of its (more recent) inhabitants like to decry as a culinary no-fly zone.

Elsewhere, Epicerie Café Charbon is getting a new owner, and Stanton Street is getting souvlaki.
