Year of the Takeout Day 183: Mr. Broadway Kosher Delicatessen
Fong Wan Gai from Mr. Broadway Kosher Delicatessen (1372 Broadway, 212-921-2152)
Yes, you saw that correctly -- that is indeed pastrami wrapped around a chicken breast that is then breaded and deep fried.
And it is just great.
Whereas chicken can often be mediocre -- perhaps a brand of bland, dry, or stringy -- the smoky meat really does add moisture and depth to this simple stir-fry dish.
Be advised: it's too damned pricey ($18.95. Shit!)
So, we suggest that you break it into a few meals or plan on eating New York City's cheap eats for the next few days (both of which are our plans).
