Year of the Takeout Day 190: China Max (Do Chickens Have Balls?)
Fried Chicken Balls from China Max, Seaport (89 S. Street Seaport Pier 17, 212-285-0086)
So what exactly is a chicken ball, you might ask?
China Max apparently has an answer to this question.
Like poultry hush puppies, these starchy, mealy spheres maintain a vaguely fishy vibe.
Though mashed, shaped, and filled with plentiful bread product, they miraculously remain meaty and moist, and wind up being a bit hard to resist when dipped in chili sauce.
The balls plus two other entrees cost $8.70.
FYI: The veggies and chicken with broc are executed quite skilfully, considering they have been simmering on a steam table all day.
