Year of the Takeout Day 205: Fo Ying
Chicken With Basil Sauce From Fo Ying (811 Eighth Avenue, 212-489-5008)
What the Fo?
Seriously, though, we wanted to know WTF was up with the $5.50 chicken with basil sauce -- we imagined that it would have the features of a fusion dish, considering this restaurant offers pad Thai.
What we found was quite the opposite -- and quite pleasant.
Many heaping chunks of chicken come covered in a traditional soy-based gravy, but plentiful fresh basil leaves and white onion slices add necessary crispness and lightness.
