Year of the Takeout Day 207: Bite Size Kitchen
Red Curry Chicken Bun from Bite Size Kitchen (Today, at 400 Carroll Street, but check the website for current vending locations.)
Priced comparably to other borough buns, such as those offered at Brooklyn Wok Shop, this $4 app features Viet and Indian influences, such as the red curry spices and cilantro.
We felt something kinda crunchy in each bite, and if it's peanuts -- as mentioned on the menu -- we liked how they add nuance to the pleasantly peppery chicken filling's texture.
Overall, the dish works well, but we did wonder: would the addition of a cold vegetable -- perhaps something similar to what you'd expect in banh mi -- make these buns even better?
