Tuesday, October 23, 2012 | 3 years ago
Activists with the October 22nd Coalition take part in a march from Union Square against police brutality. The rally, which has taken place annually every October, began in Union Square with speeches and poetry, including several speeches by families and parents of people killed by the NYPD. Several hundred took part, and were escorted by a group of NYPD officers.
The October 22nd Coalition has held rallies all over the country since 1996. Yesterday's march included anti-Stop and Frisk activists, members of the OWS movement, and CopWatch, as well as several other associated groups.
