August 2014 in Photos

In August we saw both the upstart Latino punk festival and the more established Afropunk go down in Brooklyn, civil unrest (and several arrests) in Manhattan over police brutality against Eric Garner and Michael Brown, followed by a peaceful march on Staten Island behind the same cause. We saw outdoor a few summer concert series to come to a close for the year, counted down the year in food photography and recapped the first half of our 100 favorite dishes countdown. Here are some of the more memorable photos shot by Voice photographers during the month of August. To see the full gallery, simply click on the caption.
