New York's French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) held its annual Bastille Day street fair celebration a day early on Sunday, July 13, attracting Francophiles and lovers of crepes, pastries, sandwiches, fruit and lemonade.

Celebrity baker Dominique Ansel drew much of the attention with a 60-second frozen yogurt creation, and ticketed events within the FIAF building offered various cooked French delights: The top floor hosted a Grand Vins Wine Tour de France while the lower levels had tables with samples of cheese, wine, beer and cocktails.

The festivities were not just limited to food. For children there were face-painters, wandering mimes, and balloon-makers. A small performance stage near Park Avenue drew a large crowd for Karen's Can-Can Dancers and other musicians including a marching band who paraded their way along the few blocks of 60th street. The French Institute also put together a raffle with some prizes and a Twitter scavenger hunt.
