Hundreds Gather in NYC to Protest Michael Brown's Death

Hundreds gathered in several areas of New York City on Thursday, August 14, along with many other cities across the country to protest what they describe as excessive force used by the police. Organizers called for a national moment of silence; coming days after unarmed 18-year-old Michael Brown was killed by police in Ferguson, Missouri. The groups gathered in Union Square and Harlem; with several groups converging in Times Square. The protest; though largely peaceful; did feature some break-away groups who took to the streets; resulting in several arrests. Photos by CS Muncy for the Village Voice.
