Bonnie Slotnick, 53, studied to be mounted auxiliary officer in NYC parks. "Everyone knows '10-4,' but as a lifelong math-o-phobe I never thought Id be able to learn the rest of the codes we have to usenumbers from one to 99, each with a specific meaning. Someone in the program had made small flashcards, the kind with the answers on the back. I took these with me on a flight to Phoenix and studied them for hours."
