These People Need Milk: Scenes From the NYC Hot Sauce Expo

Sinuses were relieved all around Penn Station over the weekend, as the second-annual NYC Hot Sauce Expo went down on March 29-30, 2014 at Penn Plaza Pavilion (401 7th Avenue). Attracting more than 45 purveyors of hot sauce for a weekend of commerce and competition. There was a pepper-eating contest, a spicy taco-eating contest and chicken-wing eating contest, among other challenges. One man ate three "Smokin' Ed's Carolina Reaper" peppers -- the company boasts they "measure 1.5 million on the Scoville Scale" -- in twelve seconds, netting him a trophy.
