as a lifelong star trek fan, i must say, this is completely lame. the new film is NOT a cynical attempt to cash in? WRONG. it's nothing BUT that. hey sutton, you should have just gone ahead and given abrams a BJ instead of drawing all those little pictures; would have saved you some time.

Bah! Screw J.J. Abrams and his new movie... He kept going out of his way to tell people he wasn't a Star Trek fan and preferred Star Wars. All he really tried to do is make his version of a Star Wars movie since he'll never get to make an actual SW film. I have no interest in "Trek 90210," with that mama's boy Chris Pine playing Kirk and with less Trek philosophy, idealism and social/political commentary but more battles and things going "BOOM!" Sorry, but that's never what Star Trek was about. Paramount screwed things up for Trek years ago. They had a gem on their hands in Deep Space Nine (the best of all the Trek series), but they didn't do much of anything to promote to a wider audience. That series had a lot of potetnial to live on in feature films, but in spite of the critical acclaim the show got it always lived in the shadow of the other Treks and there will never be a revival of DS9. They blew it.

SFX A+ Actors A+Uhurra-B- checkov Story D- a pity the story could not equil the SFX and actors. the person who called this a Star wars rip was correct Abbrams pissed on every thing that made star trek and on every person who has ever served in the military of any western nation. as for kirks cheat on the KM no win that was so pathic he should have been throw out of the school

Geez, you guys too hard on it. Anton Yelchin's Chekhov fine, Spock-horny Uhura good, maybe a little 90210 but overall a fun, fresh take on Trek.

No offense, Mr. Sutton, but Chris Pine and Co. haven't made a strong enough impression to make me forget about the original crew quite yet. Give Shatner a role in the sequel, then we'll talk.

This is not a good cartoon to read if you prefer old Trek to new Trek. The new uniforms are not cooler. The new ship is not cooler. Fans accepted TNG just fine without Shatner; the problem is new Trek doesn't look and feel like Trek. Very depressing.

Fabulous! My sentiments exactly! The film is true to the original TV series (and MUCH funnier, in spots), the casting is impeccable, and the plot is only occasionally a bit corny. But the music -- good as it is -- was often TOO LOUD!
