Who Makes the Music of New York?

Phil Gammage, the lead singer and guitar player for Adventures in Bluesland: "When I was a teenager I used to listen to a lot of music that had electric guitar and it was an instrument that always fascinated me. At a certain point I picked it up and havent been able to put it down since."

It was the longest day of the year on June 21 (official sunrise and sunset: 5:24:51 a.m. and 8:30:53 p.m.), as Make Music New York saw its eighth year. An event inspired by the Fete de la Musique in Paris, more than 1,300 free musical performances took place across the five boroughs to celebrate the art of making music. We took to the streets to meet some of these people and ask them about the music they help to create.
