Don Pedro in Brooklyn Hosts Queer and Feminist Comedy Night

by Kengo Tsutsumi | Thursday, July 9, 2015

Once a month, Don Pedro in Brooklyn plays host to "Thank Goddess," a comedy night started by comedians and collaborators Joe Castle Baker and Tessa Skara. The show bills itself "as a monthly ritual celebrating comedic realness and downtown theater and stand-up," featuring queer and feminist artists that are roundly pushing the genre in a million new directions. Bawdy, vulnerable, and relatable, these performers infuse their work with elements incorporating cabaret, performance art, and the internet. On this episode of This Is Stand-up, Baker and Skara introduce a recent show featuring Julio Torres, Erin Markey, Ana Fabrega, and Anna Drezen.
