3:10 to Yuma
Dir. Delmer Daves (1957). Suspense trumps violence and chin music rivals fisticuffs in this recently re-made adult western. Lacking High Noon's stripped-down drama, 3:10 to Yuma strove for additional psychological complexity in contrasting two American types: the stolid working-stiff everyman and the charming hipster sociopath.
