A Crazy Idea
Dir. Kurt Gerron (1932). This lively musical trifle, set in a fraudulent winter-sport hotel, is distinguished by its energetic dance numbers (one on ice-skates) and particularly by the rubber-limbed cavorting of Rosy Barsony. The director Kurt Gerron met a tragic end, forced to make a propaganda film extolling life in Theresienstadt, the Nazi concentration camp where he died.
