A REAL SCREAM
You knew it was October. But Shlocktober? Yes, become a C-movie aficionado at the Pioneer Theater's horror and cult film festival, running every night through the end of the month, with world premieres, retro-schlock classics, special guests, and lots of movies with the word "dead" in the title. Tonight, check out Dagger: The Short Festival of Short Horror, featuring a program of award-winning bloodcurdling flicks, including Paul Campion's Eel Girl, about a military scientist obsessed with the half-girl, half-eel creature he's studying, and Phil Mucci's The Listening Dead, which concerns a composer and his seamstress wife who are haunted by a mysterious young woman. Coming up: Creature Feature: 50 Years of the Gill-Man (October 24-October 30) and a Halloween midnight screening of Night of the Living Dead.
