ACCENT ON BINGO
It's easy to miss the scores of Ukrainian venues along Second Avenue if you aren't looking for them. Besides Veselka, institutions like the Ukrainian National Home—which houses the awesome dive bar Sly Fox and the East Village Ukrainian Restaurant in the back—haven't quite busted out into the consciousness of the other East Village, till now. At Bingo-Ski, Linda Simpson is combining old-world roots with old-school drag for a Slavic-themed bingo night. Performers Erin Markey, Violet Temper, and Matthew Camp don babushka-wear; see if you can spot them among the real-life bingo-playing locals who hang out there.
