Baltimore's Adventure have the fugly thrift shop glasses and indie credentials to be lumped in with their Dan Deacon and Ponytail counterparts. But instead of going all art rock collective, the band (fronted by ex-North Carolinian Benny Boeldt) has pared down into a three-piece, restraining their glitchy chiptune for a smoother 80's synth-pop with hooks instead of antics. Inspired by the moog-heavy atmospheric soundtracks of Pretty in Pink and Big Trouble in Little China, Adventure's Lesser Known quells their video game affects for nostalgia that feels new, old, and subversive at the same time. With Pat Jordache, Steel Phantoms, and Tiny Victories.
