ALIVE AND WELL
Their need for a nice country stroll evidently satisfied by 2008's electro-folk detour Seventh Tree, Alison Goldfrapp and her boy-toy multi-instrumentalist Will Gregory make a beeline back to the club on Head First, the U.K. synth-pop duo's recently released latest. ("Shiny and Warm" is but one of the new set's instructive song titles.) Little Boots fans disappointed by that fellow nü-disco diva's underwhelming live show have good reason to expect bigger, better things here: Just check out Goldfrapp's video for Head First's "Alive"—in which the singer leads an otherworldly aerobics class populated by a bunch of black-metal corpse-paint types—for a taste of what you might be in for.
