ALL HAIL THE KING
Minor league games are always fun, with time honored events like the hot dog condiment race between Mr. Ketchup, Mr. Mustard and Mr. Relish (insiders tip: Don’t bet on Mr. Relish). And the Brooklyn Cyclones really do a bang-up job with their promotions: Every Sunday is Family Day with pre-game activities for kids on the field and special pricing. Wacky Wednesdays feature $10 tickets and there are fireworks every Friday. The giveaways are pretty neat, too, but the best is tonight’s: “The King” bobblehead for the first 3,000 fans on Elvis Presley night, which caps off the Cyclones’ second annual Halloween in July week. Fans are encouraged to wear costumes and they usually do, not to mention that the Cyclones, who have sent two dozen players to the big leagues, also play some pretty good baseball. MCU Park is a baseball lover’s jewel, sitting on the beach next to Coney Island with a great view of Luna Park and the team’s namesake Cyclone roller coaster.
