Her approach to the trap set is a fetching blend of lithe and splashy, which tells you that she's got calibration in her corner. The new Boom Tic Boom takes inventive tunes and inspired playing to a place where eloquence lives. The intrepid nature of Myra Melford's piano has a lot to do with that, but this trio (with Todd Sickafoose on bass) has a curious chemistry that helps define its personality. There's a sense of flux that still allows room for lots of definition. Jenny Sheinman's on the gig, too.
