Allo Berlin? Ici Paris!
(Julien Duvivier, 1932). This charming Rene Clairish romantic comedy about a pair of young switchboard operators in Paris and Berlin who flirt across telephone lines and finally get together after a number of mix-ups stars the young Josette Day (later to become famous as Beauty in Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast) and hunky Wolfgang Klein. It's a rarely-shown film, beautifully and imaginatively shot.
