AN ANIME-TED LINEUP
For all you obsessed with J-pop culture (we charitably like to call you nerds in fantasyland), the annual New York Anime Festival is back and as geeky as ever. Bringing manga, anime, video games, live-action Japanese cinema, cosplay, and fashion under one roof, the weekend-long convention features more than 75 panels, 50 concerts and screenings, and a slew of guests sure to have you squealing in your role-playing costumes. Celebrities include Rie Tanaka, the Japanese voice actress best known for playing Lacus Clyne in Gundam SEED and Suigintou in Rozen Maiden; Tony Oliver, Kyle Hebert, and Steve Blum of the Gurren Lagann series; and illustrator Yoshitaka Amano, who created the look of Final Fantasy and Vampire Hunter D. On a fashion note, designers Miho Satoh and Masumi Kanoh will be selling and chatting about their premier Lolita fashion brand Baby, The Stars Shine Brightperfect for all you wannabe Harajuku girls.
