Even though winter wasn’t that bad, nothing says summer like being on the water, and Saturday boating at Brooklyn Bridge Park really puts you there. Kayaking and community rowing are free, just come by and sign up. There is plenty to do while you wait as the park continues to expand every year, and if you prefer to conserve your energy, it’s easy to find a vantage point to enjoy the killer view of the lower Manhattan skyline, which we never tire of. Only two rules: Children under 18 need a guardian with them, and last sign-up is an hour before closing time. (By the way, make time to go by the historic Jane’s Carousel, which won Travel + Leisure’s 2012 Best Public Space Award. You don’t have to be a kid or have a kid to love it!)
Saturdays, 10:30 a.m. Starts: June 9. Continues through Sept. 16, 2012
