Violinist Irvine Arditti's contemporary specialists will evoke the spare airwaves and dense potential of a Scottish island bereft of music when they present the New York premiere of Harrison Birtwistle's 2007 work, Tree of Strings. Conlon Nancarrow's "String Quartet #3" and Iannis Xenakis's Tetras, both commissioned for the quartet, fill out what should be an intense, challenging, and rewarding evening.
