Ariel Pink's Haunted Grafitti
Reviews indicate that the live version of the brilliantly blissful collage pop heard on Ariel Rosenberg's kinda-sorta breakout album, Before Today, is loose verging on disastrous. Nevertheless, Rosenberg's still the Todd Rundgren of the Animal Collective set: An ambitious yet self-defeating studio rat with more ideas than hubris. And who doesn't like a good train wreck? With somnambulant Los Angeles electropop duo Puro Instinct (formerly Pearl Harbor) and the melodic '60s Cali-pop of Memphis's Magic Kids.
