Army of Lovers
(Rosa von Praunheim, 1978). The German helmer, one of the world's leading gay directors, takes a look at various moments in the American gay liberation movement. He records a San Francisco rights march, but he's more interested in the people running the show and turns up with valuable interviews. Among other themes, he explores the initial unity formed after Stonewall, which ultimately foundered into polarization and self-interest groups.
