Honduran singer Aurelio Martinez has fronted tribute concerts for Andy Palacio, an artist in the Afro-Caribbean Garifuna musical tradition who was on the verge of international stardom at the time of his death in 2008. Martinez has also been taken under the wing of Youssou N'Dour, who appears on Martinez's new Sub Pop album, Laru Beya, a fine introduction to his dryly emotive voice and Garifuna sound's distinctive grooves.
