For the 2012 BowieBall, a now annual event hosted by the eccentrically glamorous designer Deryck Todd, the starmen and starwomen will come out to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Bowie’s single “John, I’m Only Dancing” with enough caked-on glitter and eye shadow to have brought tears to Ziggy’s eyes. Join in on the fun for one night only and come wearing your best Bowie outfit to honor the King of Glam Rock. Casey Spooner co-hosts the party, which includes a costume contest, burlesque, and makeovers. But the night is not only for thrills and frills; it’s about giving back. A portion of the proceeds are donated to the Ali Forney Center to assist homeless LGBTQ youth. When in space, do as Bowie would do, and be sure to say hello to Major Tom for us.
