It’s time to ditch your vegan friends and compile your best testicle puns: The Brooklyn Meatball Takedown is upon us. Get ready for a cornucopia of blood and spice and everything nice as the borough’s best carnivorous chefs serve up bite-sized specialties for your sampling pleasure. Expect old faithfuls like the classic Italian and “Redneck Bawls” (a Southern delicacy of sorts), but be prepared for things to get a bit fancy as well; this is the foodie capital of the country, after all. Asian-inspired soy and ginger flavors and cheese infusions are not unlikely. It should give the judges fodder for some heated deliberation, if not heart attacks.
