Boston's little circus of malcontents not only has the chops (several seasoned players who cut their teeth at Berkeley School of Music) but features a fallen hellfire preacher/band leader (the captivating Brian Carpenter) who simultaneously channels Nick Cave and Johnny Cash. Their high-octane Americana scoots around in clown cars fueled by oompah horns, shit-eating-grin banjo, plunkety upright bass, serpentine squeezebox, shufflin' ho-down drums, and a various assortment of clanky, shake-y, scratchy, percussive clatter. If you dig the shtick, your ass will surely be shaking. With Nervous Cabaret.
