BEING JOHN ZORN
The Book of Angels is an illuminated manuscript of jazz: a tome of 316 full compositions, written in 2004 in a flurry of inspiration by downtown jazz icon John Zorn (curator of experimental enclave the Stone). He has ushered them out over the past years, over numerous CDs and gigs, but the John Zorn Masada Marathon packs the greatest punch to date: 10 groups, two evenings, barely a scratched surface of all those ideas. Tonight, for the concluding evening, Mark Feldman & Sylvie Courvoisier, Banquet of the Spirits, and Jamie Saft Trio will do the honors.
