They've been running the Belmont Stakes since 1867, and the race remains one of the three premier events in thoroughbred racing, the "third jewel" in the Triple Crown. There's no shot at a Triple Crown Winner this year, but that doesn't diminish the excitement of the million-dollar race. There will be a new champion at the Belmont, though, as neither the Kentucky Derby nor Preakness winners are expected to be there. Look for Ice Box, the runner-up in the Derby, and Dublin, who might end up being the only horse to run all three races. You don't have to know racing—just go for the experience.
