Black Joe Lewis & the Honey Bears
One of the few soul revivalist bands doing justice to Jake and Elwood Blues, this eight-piece, Austin-based funk posse is the perfect complement to your all-day beef bender. Bringing the brisket is frontman Joe Lewis, who testifies like Wilson Pickett on a 5-Hour Energy binge. Then there's the rub--a boozy melange of seasoning, from Booker T. and the MGs to the Meters to Hubert Sumlin. The ingredients all come together with enough stank, oomph, and kick-in-the-pants flavor to take you beyond the Applebee's of strip-mall pop to a backwoods hootenanny that doesn't stop till the still runs dry. With Doug Wamble and Those Darlins.
