At 46, J Mascis has more going on right now than most of the indie-rock youngsters he has inspired: an upcoming Dinosaur Jr. album, a debut out next month by his new group Heavy Blanket, and a one-off Witch gig tonight before that doom-metal outfit (in which Mascis plays drums) heads to Holland for this year’s Roadburn Festival. Witch hasn't put out an album since 2008's Paralyzed, but with a sound openly modeled on the classic works of Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, it's unlikely to seem out of date here. Or at least more out of date than is the band’s objective.
