'Blackenedfest featuring Mayhem+Marduk'

Norwegian extreme-metal legends Mayhem—whose members are known more for inter-band murder, suicide, cannibalism, and church burning than their firebrand, lightning-fast black metal (at least to VH1)—kick off their first-ever U.S. tour to feature iconic Hungarian frontman Attila Csihar behind the mic tonight. The vocalist's avant-garde delivery—wherein he sometimes breathes in instead of out, among other effects—is an attraction in itself. Also appearing at the show are Swedish corpse-paint commandos Marduk, pot-fueled Colorado death metallers Cephalic Carnage, vegan San Diego death-metal group Cattle Decapitation, sludgy Atlanta extreme-metal group Withered, and Chicago thrashers Lair of the Minotaur.
