It's not the World's Fair, but Flushing Meadows Corona Park's next attraction packs in all the same grandeur, at least for street skaters worldwide. The Maloof Money Cup New York, courtesy of the brothers who also happen to own such other less-skate-related ventures as the Sacramento Kings and Palms Casino, will be held in New York this year and will offer $250,000 in prizes to the competition's winners. Pros like Geoff Rowley and Chris Cole will compete on a brand-new course modeled after classic NYC skate spots, which will be donated to the city afterward as a public park. The huge—that is, 50,000-square-foot—festival will also feature an amateur tournament and musical performances by Chiddy Bang (today), Lil Jon (tomorrow), and lots of local bands throughout.
