The space the Roxy disco and roller rink once called home has now been transformed into a far more upper-crust establishment: a 24,700-square-foot gallery for the European art-world powerhouse of Hauser & Wirth, its second location in the city. It opens tonight with the masterworks of the influential late Swiss artist Dieter Roth and his son, Björn Roth. As Roth always liked to have a bar in his exhibitions, the gallery has installed one in the Roxy’s VIP area that—staying true to the “party hard” spirit of the place—will remain after the exhibit ends.
Wed., Jan. 23, 6 p.m.; Tuesdays-Saturdays, 11 a.m. Starts: Jan. 23. Continues through April 13, 2013
