Bryan Scary & the Shredding Tears+Jersey Band
Bryan Scary is one of these do-everything guys, and this corresponds to his being pop-obsessed: The music, the production, the flouncy scarves. But after shouldering the flourishes and eloquent rockisms of 2006's Shredding Tears, Scary transformed the album name into actual dudes, recorded the well-received Flight of the Knife, and followed that with an EP this past fall. What's next? More shows that are do-everything, too—costumes! maybe a glockenspiel!—as well as a new album that's allegedly also a Western. There you go lassoing the world again, dude. With Jersey Band, who are self-described as "lungcore." While you might wish for a cappella hardcore, what you'll receive has something to do with brass and heavy metal vocals.
