BURTONS BIG ADVENTURE
Only Tim Burton could seamlessly take a stolen-bicycle caper and bring it to the Alamo, onto the set of a Twisted Sister video, and into a particularly hair-raising hitchhiking situation. Well thats not totally truePaul Reubens does deserve some credit. But its the poignantly perverse filmmaker who is the subject of MOMAs new retrospective, Tim Burton, displaying some 700 pieces of Burtons never-before-seen artwork and cinematic ephemera (opening November 22) and screening all 14 of his feature films. The film program, which includes Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, and Sweeney Todd, starts November 18 with Burtons first (and perhaps finest!) pic, 1985s Pee-wees Big Adventure.
